Early 1960 saw a major transition of the Strat from its original 1950s version. New features that year included a rosewood “slab” fingerboard, three-ply “mint green” nitrocellulose pickguard, thinner oval “C” neck profile, and a tall metal spacer on the string guide. Further, it was the last year of the original “spaghetti” headstock decal (“Fender Stratocaster with Synchronized Tremolo”) before the addition of patent numbers.
